Darul Irfan was established to serve aspiring students in their quest for Islamic knowledge and those who intend to grow spiritually by learning the spiritual sciences of Islam which deal with the purification of the heart and soul. Allah Most High declares in the Qur’an: “Verily, he who has purified the lower self (nafs) has triumphed, and he who has corrupted it has lost” (91:9-10).

About the founder

Darul Irfan was founded by Shaykh Sohail Irfan (damat barakatuhum). Shaykh Sohail Irfan is a khalifah of Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi Mujaddidi. He has ijaza (authorization) in Tasawwuf in the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi order from his blessed guide.

After completing the memorization of the Qur’an under his teachers at an early age, Shaykh Sohail engaged in spreading the light of the Noble Qur’an by teaching in schools and through the blessed work of Tabligh. Thereafter, he moved to the United States where he continued this valuable work and has been responsible for cultivating numerous huffaz throughout the country.

Shaykh Sohail began studying the traditional books of knowledge (Darse Nizami) under scholars in the United States. After initial studies, he moved to Pakistan to study advanced books, which culminated in the ‘Alimiyyah degree. In the footsteps of his shaykh, Shaykh Sohail routinely travels to various countries to give lectures. He currently resides in Lahore, Pakistan with his wife and children.
